This guideline aims to support teachers in their daily practice of assessment for learning.. It is focused on informal / formative assessment practice to improve the learning of all learners in the classroom, especially those learners who are currently underachieving in subjects. It also attempts to encourage teachers to constantly reflect and improve their practice to enhance the value of teaching and learning in their classroom.

It is hoped that this guideline will initiate conversations in school staffrooms for greater teacher collective action in improving learning at their school, to raise the expectations of the learners of their own learning, initiate greater analysis of assessment for learning and result in improved achievement of all learners.
